Something that I find helpful but not mandatory would be listing the benefits of attending the event. Even social events carry some benefit for the attendees listing this is more likely to make me want to attend.

And I'm like you regarding having an email address listed, even if it is during normal business hours I may not have time to talk to someone at that moment (you know some people can get long winded). With my busy schedule I’m not likely to remember to call when I have time or when they are open, so email works perfectly.

An event website should also include:

1) Who should attend the event

2) The benefits of attending

3) Testimonials - endorsements from past attendees

Basically answer the WIFM - What's In it For Me.
